Albergo Posta Marcucci in Italy continues its evolution from a historic village inn to a refined luxury retreat. Part of the Casa Costa 1956 collection, the hotel is set to reopen on March 7 under a new name: La Posta. On January 6, Albergo Posta Marcucci closed its doors to begin the final phase of its transformation. As La Posta, the property aligns itself with La Perla in Corvara, Dolomites, another hotel in the Casa Costa 1956 collection.
La Posta is located in Bagno Vignoni, within the UNESCO-protected Val d’Orcia countryside. The village, known for its thermal waters and medieval bath at its center, offers a sanctuary of calm away from crowds. To that point, Casa Costa 1956 says La Posta will be well-suited for "guests seeking serenity, wellness, culture, history and dining experiences." Travelers can expect 35 newly refurbished rooms and thermal pools. The hotel’s “farm-to-table” food philosophy is led by Chef Matteo Antoniello, who highlights the use of local ingredients to craft unique gastronomic experiences.
The property also serves as a good starting point for exploring Tuscany’s landscapes on foot or by bike.
The story of La Posta began in 1956 with the Marcucci family and continues under the stewardship of the Costa family, who acquired the property in 2017. “This house, nestled in the heart of Bagno Vignoni in Tuscany, holds a rich history: once a ‘post station’ for letters and horses, it was cared for by the Marcucci family from the mid-1800s, offering travelers rest and shelter within its walls,” said Michil Costa, owner and CEO. "It also owes its legacy to the precious thermal water that flows behind the building, filling the large pool overlooking the Rocca d’Orcia since the 1970s."
